I think this will be my last post in Prague. Why? Because  I've left Prague. The end of my Erasmus, the end of the best year of my life. Here, I've grown as a person; I met incredible people; I learnt from this fantastic culture and country; I've felt (and I feel) as if I were at home, in fact, it's my second home. This experience will remain in my head forever, and it's something that everybody has to undergo. I have the feeling that this life in Prague has been a digression from my "real life". Like a dream. Like something I've imagined. Anyway, my name is Mery. I lived in Kolej Hostivar, specifically in budova 2, floor num. 8 :-D. I have written this blog because the first time I was in Prague I was very lost and I did not find anything that could guide me. And I thought: "The future students should have it". I hope this blog has helped you in many ways. I am really sorry for my writing mistakes, not only in English but also in Spanish, but I reached a deadlock that I was very lazy to correct all mistakes. I also want to tell you that I haven't written everything I've done/visited during my Erasmus, because I think you will be able to discover it by yourselves, for sure! And of course, I am sure there are many things that I haven't done and I really hope you do it!!!
I really recommend you to enjoy your new life here, [and that does not mean going to parties all the time] because it will be ephemeral.

At the beginning my blog will help you for sure, but it won't be enough. Nevertheless, no worries, Sandro and LuluErasmusOrgasmus(you will know who these guys are haha) will create many events for you in order to meet other people, and know better Prague, like the warm up, the traffic light party in Sasazu and so on.

It has been a pleasure to help you.

European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)

For those who don't know it. I really recommend you to apply for the European Health Insurance Card. I post it because I've talked with friends who are going on Erasmus this year and they didn't know it!

DANCING FOUNTAIN

Just this post because in Senovážné náměstí, there is(for me) the most beautiful fountain in Prague. It is a simple fountain but very precious. It's between Hlavní Nadrazi and Praha Masarykovo Nadrazi.

CAFE: It's a very cozy cafe just behind my house!!! I really really recommend it!!
Address: Rohacova, number no idea. But it's easy to find it. Just in the corner with Cerninova.
TAKE BUS: 207 to Cerninova or Tram to Lipanská/Biskupkova and walk few minutes.

MAMA COFFEE: This is THE coffee place. Amazing place. It is the first Fairtrade coffee roasting house in Central Europe.  The coffee is a little bit expensive(50kr aprox), but really is worthy. There are many choices of coffee or tea and they make home made Czech cake. I REALLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. There are several Mama Coffees, I went to the one which is near USUDU. Address: Vodičkova 6, Praha 2. Opening hours: mon - fri: 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., sat - sun: 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Este es EL lugar del café. Increíble. Es la primera casa de cafe de comercio justo in Europa central. El café es un poco caro (50 kr aprox), pero vale mucho la pena. PRAGUE BEER MUSEUM: I only have gone twice, but it is a nice bar. There are many types of beers. There is a little terrace at the end of the bar.

Solo he ido dos veces a este bar pero está bien. Hay muchos tipos de birras a escoger. Hay una pequeña terraza al fondo del bar.

Només he anat dos cops en aquest bar però està bé. Hi han varis tipos de birres per elegir. Hi ha una petita terrassa al fons del bar.

So, yes! There is a beach in Prague. But obviously, it's an artificial one. It's called Žluté lázně.

How to get there? Tram 3, 16, 17 or 21 to the stop DVORCE. Take the short walk from the tram strop to the entrance gates.

It is said to be the best place to buy the best STRUDLS!! it's just next to my flat!! In Zizkov. Address: Jeseniova 29, Prague 3. Really,very worthy to go there!!!!And they are HUUGEEE
Opening hours:  Monday–Friday 9:00–12:00 and 13:00–17:00
PS. It's a small place, in fact it's like a window and nothing else. In fact, it doesn't attract attention.

CAFE VICTORIA: It's a new cafe next to my flat. During these last days I've been several times cuz' I have no food in the fridge haha. The menu is cheap! and the ice Cappuccino is delicious, and the croissants!!

CZECH?

Maybe you are asking yourselves to learn or not to learn the Czech Language. Well, for sure you'll learn the basics things such as: Dobry den, Dekuju, na shledanou, pivo prosim, prosim,dobre noci etc etc... I did a Czech Language course during the 1st semester and then I didn't want to continue.Now, I regret. So, I recommend you to learn it. But,anyway, then you'll do whatever you want;-)

Puede que os estéis preguntando si debéis o no debéis aprender checo. Bueno,por supuesto vais a aprender las cosas básicas como:Dobry den, Dekuju, na shledanou, pivo prosim, prosim,dobre noci etc etc... Yo hice un curso de checo durante el primer semestrepero luego ya no continué. Ahora, me arrepiento. Por eso os recomiendo aprenderlo. Ahora, luego hacéis lo que queráis ;-)

Pot ser que vos estigueu preguntant si heu o no aprendre txec. TRANSPORT TICKET IN YOUR MOBILE

A comfortable way to buy a ticket for the public transport. I'll give you here the information but once you get in the bus,train or tram, you'll see a sticker in some doors(like the one in the pic). You just have to send a text to the number 902 06 with the ticket you want. Soo easy...

UNIVERZITA KARLOVA V PRAZE

Just in front of my uni, there is a shop where you can buy any item from Charles University. It is called UK POINT. It is in Celetná 14, Prague 1. Near the Old Town. My erasmus is almost finished so, as a memory, I bought this super t-shirt!!!:D I have to say that there are many ugly clothes there,my t-shirt was one of the most beautiful t-shirts.

USEFUL MAP

Well, the first days in Prague you'll have many things to do: university stuff...  They'll give many papers and blabla and maybe a useful map.  I used it, when I was investigating Prague. It's a map made by locals(Czech people). In the map there are many places to visit, bars/shops/restaurants/libraries etc to go... Bueno, los primeros días en Praga deberéis hacer muchas cosas, sobretodo relacionado con la universidad. Te darán muchos papeles y blablbla y puede que un mapa bastante útil. Yo lo usé cuando estaba investigando Praga. Es un mapa hecho por la gente local(checos). En el mapa podrás encontrar muchos sitios para visitar, bares/tiendas/ restaurantes/biblios etc que ir. KOLEJ HOSTIVAR OR FLAT?

I spent 6 months in Kolej Hostivar. Then, I moved out, and now, I'm living in a flat in Zizkov.(I wanted to try the life in a flat) I REALLY RECOMMEND to go to Kolej Hostivar. There, you can meet many people and friends, and then, if you are fed up of living there, move out from there. But at the beginning of your Erasmus, go to Hostivar. What most of the people did was spending the 1st semester there and then in January-February, after the new people came, they moved out. Well, always you can spend the whole year in the dormitory.

Yo estuve 6 meses en Kolej Hostivar. Luego me mudé y ahora estoy viviendo en un piso en Zizkov(quería probar la vida en un piso). Yo recomiendo mucho que vayáis al Kolej Hostivar. Allí conoces a muchos amigos y mucha gente; luego,si ya estás harto de vivir ahí, te mudas. Pero al principio del erasmus, id a Hostivar. Lo que la mayoría de las personas hicieron este año es estar todo el primer cuatri allí y en enero-febrero, cuando los nuevos estudiantes vienieron, se mudaron. Bueno, siempre puedes quedarte todo el año en al resi.

Jo vaig estar 6 mesos al Kolej Hostivar. Llavors em vaig mudar i ara estic a un pis a Zizkov(volia probar la vida a un pis). Jo recomano anar primerament al Kolej Hostivar. Allà coneixes a molta gent i amics; llavors, si estàs fart de la resi, te cambies. Però al principi, anau a Hostivar. Lo que va fer la majoria de les persones aquest any es estar el primer quatri i llavors en gener-febrer,després de que els nous estudiants venguessin, es van mudar. Tot hi així, sempre podeu quedar-vos tot l'any a Hosti.
